The First International Conference on General Aviation was held alongside Kish AirShow



The First International Conference on General Aviation (ICGA2018) was held on the second day of International Iranian Kish Air Show Exhibition on 27th November, 2018.

ICGA2018 was organized by Aerospace Research Institute (ARI) and was held in cooperation with different universities and administrative/industrial sectors. 

Conference committee was composed of:

Dr. Fathollah Ommi, Conference Chair and ARI Head,

Dr. Mohammad Taeibi Rahni, Conference Technical Co-chair and ARI Research Deputy,

Dr. Kouros Nekoufar, Conference Scientific Co-chair and ARI Senior Advisor, and

Dr. Seyyed Arash Seyyed Shams Taleghani, Conference Executive Co-chair and ARI Faculty Member.

This one-day conference was held in collaboration with SAHA Iran Aircraft Industries (IACI), the Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran (HOMA; IranAir), and Iranian Aviation Technology Development Head Quarter (IATDH) to provide a unique forum for professors, researchers, experts, and students to exchange information, spotting obstacles and difficulties on the way of realization of general aviation, and to find new synergies to overcome such obstacles.

Sharif University of Technology (International Campus – Kish Island), University of Tehran (International Campus, Kish Campus), and Tarbiat Modares University were other supporters of ICGA2018.

The opening ceremony commenced with a speech by Dr. Fathollah Ommi and continued with presenting the conference program by Dr. Taeibi Rahni. Then, Captain Reza Izadi, the head of SAHA, Dr. Sharafbafi, the head of HOMA, and Dr. Fazelzadeh, the faculty member of Shiraz University presented their interesting speeches.

In this conference, 35 papers (from about 90 submitted manuscripts) were accepted for oral presentation in six parallel sessions. In addition, another 32 papers were presented as posters.


Before, during, and after the conference, three important related technical panels were held. The first panel entitled “Applications of Remote Sensing for Environmental Monitoring and Land Management” was held on 13th November at ARI. The second panel entitled “Developing General Aviation Industry of the Country and Providing Solutions and Guidelines” was held during the conference, while the third one entitled “Air Navigation Challenges in Future Generation of Air Transport” was held on 5th December (one week after the conference) at ARI.

At the closing ceremony of the conference, top articles, keynote speakers, and pioneers of aviation industry, Dr. Manoochehr Manteghi, Eng’r. Faraj Karimi Majd, and Captain Reza Izadi were honored. In this closing ceremony, supporters and organizers of the conference were also honored by Dr. Ommi. At the end, Mr. Sardar Moosazad, the well-known young elite, presented a very interesting speech on experimental aerodynamics.
